Waldhaus Cabin Features and Information

Accommodations

Waldhaus Cabin has two bedrooms with a queen size bed in the master and two twin size beds in the second bedroom. There is a queen size sofa bed in the livingroom. The cabin sleeps four comfortably and has a maximum occupancy of six persons, including children. The cabin has one bathroom with a shower and vanity area.

Kitchen

The cabin has a full kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, cookware, dishes and eating utensils.

Other Features

The Waldhaus has electric heat and air conditioning. It has a Smart TV (Netflix subscription included) with DVD only (no cable), free High Speed Wifi internet, phone, large covered back porch, fireplace for cookouts behind cabin, and mountain spring water on tap. The phone is a non-toll phone for local calls, incoming calls or phone card calls. If you want to provide the phone number to family members, it will be provided to renters upon request. Cell phone service is available in Morris or Wellsboro, but not in the canyon itself.

What to Bring

You should plan to bring food, clothing, sheets, pillow cases, towels and wash cloths. It’s also a good idea to bring dish soap, paper towels and toilet paper. If you forget anything, there is a general store in Morris and a large grocery store in Wellsboro

The Waldhaus is located at 80 West Rim Road Morris, PA 16938 near the town of Blackwell in Tioga County.

Directions
Traveling west on route 414 from Morris to Blackwell, cross the two bridges at Blackwell. From the second bridge, drive .4 mile and turn right onto West Rim Road. Drive .1 mile and angle right onto a dirt lane with a sign for "The Groffs". The cabin is about 100 yards straight ahead. Look for the house number "80" on the front porch.

Access to bike trail

From the cabin, turn left onto West Rim Road. Travel down the hill to Rt 414.
By car the Blackwell access area is .4 miles to the left and the Rattlesnake Rock access area is 1.3 miles to the right.
On bike or on foot, turn left and travel about 400 yards to a small lane that provides a convenient entrance to the trail. This lane is owned by the owner's family, so renters may use this lane to access the bike trail.

Reservations

To make a reservation, please contact us by phone or email to confirm availability. We require a 50% deposit by check or credit card at the time of the reservation. The balance is payable one month prior to the start of your rental dates.
Make checks payable to Jon Ludwig and mail to 1117 Karen St., Boalsburg, PA 16827.
For credit card payments, please call us at 814-404-0170. There is a 4% fee for credit card payments.
After receiving your full payment, we will send you additional information to explain how to get the keys and how to check in. The procedure to check in and check out is also posted inside the cabin. Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out time is noon on the day of your departure. Click here to send us an email.

Rental Policies

The Waldhaus is a self service cabin. Renters are required to bring their own sheets, towels, and paper products and to clean up the cabin upon departure. Cleaning up includes vacuuming the carpet, wiping the table and counters, doing your dishes and taking all garbage with you. Failure to adequately clean the cabin will result in a $60 cleaning fee being assessed to the renter.

Pets are allowed with advance permission only. Dogs must be house broken and non destructive. Their is a $20/night pet fee for each pet and a maximum of two pets allowed in the cabin during any stay.

Cancellation Policy

For cancellations three or more weeks in advance, the renter will receive a full refund. For cancellations less than three weeks before the starting rental date, the renter will lose the full rental amount, unless the renter or we can find a replacement renter. We will sometimes advertise the availability of cancelled dates at a 20% price reduction. When a replacement renter is found by the renter or by the owner at less than full price, then the renter's deposit refund will be reduced by the amount of the price reduction.

On rare occasions, the cabin could become unavailable after the reservation, due to acts of nature or an unexpected maintenance problem. In these cases, the renter will be notified as soon as possible and given a full refund.
